Art Care

  1. Watercolors are protected by using glass frames. Avoid placing artwork without matting or directly against the glass as this could trap moisture and ruin the painting.

  2. For the best protection of watercolor paintings, use acid free matting, papers and moisture free materials. Ask your framer about museum quality framing.

  3. The delicate feel of watercolors on paper canvas is enhanced by picking lighter frames instead of bulky ones. For prints or less expensive watercolors try float frames.

  4. Make sure the frame is sealed on the back to be safe from insects and dust.

  5. Suggestions for Matting: Avoid equal width of frame and matting. Neutral colored matting is recommended.

  6. To clean Oil and Acrylic paintings, use a dry soft cloth to gently wipe the surface. Please do not spray anything on the work. Both Acrylic and Oils have protective varnish which not only enhances the color saturation, but will keep the surface intact and safe from cracking.

  7. While hanging your artwork make sure it is away from direct sunlight.

  8. Not all paintings on linen canvas need framing, especially gallery wrapped stretched canvas. Discuss with your local framer for further details or please feel free to contact me for your queries.
